We recognize that growing pulses can be risky business; that's why the Alberta Pulse Growers Commission has a committee dedicated specifically to risk management. 

The committee is currently working on the following issues:

• Increasing crop insurance coverage for pulse crops;
• Advocating the creation of a weather-based system of crop insurance;
• Providing producer perspective on Bill C-39 re:bonding and licensing of grain dealers;

• Investigating the feasibility of a clearinghouse model.
